Creating the Climate for Workplace Diversity

Abstract

The advancement of the digital landscape has caused organizations to scrutinize their actions and practices through constant re-evaluation of its practices and this has yielded some valuable implications for society. This chapter proposes that effective leadership arises from an individual’s capacity to engage in cross-cultural interactions. The study revealed that reward systems, communication processes, and diversity opportunities were three patterns that emerged within the institution under review. Implications for how diversity has the power to impact personal and professional lives in positive ways are examined and recommendations for leadership on embracing diversity initiatives are proposed.
